After School Snack: Rainbow Hummus

We love hummus! It’s packed with fiber, protein, calcium, magnesium and healthy fats. We pumped up our hummus even more with fresh veggies like carrots, beets, and asparagus – not only making it colorful but fun to eat! We created a Roasted Carrot, Beautiful Beet and Mellow Asparagus Hummus.

(500 mls) Schema/Recipe SEO Data Markup by ZipList Recipe Plugin2.0 My 3 year old son, Dillon, picked out the ingredients for today’s juice.  While next week marks the 2 year anniversary of the premier of Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead, it is nearly the 4 year anniversary of the very first screening of Joe Cross’ life changing film.   In early summer of 2009 my husband, parents and I went to the Tribeca Hotel in New York City, not knowing what to ... In the Reboot Kitchen: Red Hot Juice

I love tomato and pepper based juices, especially as a dinner juice. And I LOVE chili. This juice combines those two loves into a dynamo combination of savoury and hot. It’s low in natural sugars and high in flavour and nutrients, and even contains metabolic benefits from the chili. A Japanese study on mice found that taking capsaicin (chili compound) was as effective as exercise when it comes to maintaining body weight.

In the Reboot Kitchen: Cinnaberry Smoothie

It’s hard to believe the two year anniversary of Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead’s NYC premier is here! Being part of Joe Cross’ amazing film has been one of the best experiences of my life. With friends & family in tow, we watched as this inspirational documentary hit the big screen. One of my favorite parts of the special evening was getting to hear The Kin play “Take in the Sunlight” live. You can “take in the sunlight” with this bright and refreshing smoothie. I’ll raise my smoothie glass to many more great years together with Team Reboot!

In the Reboot Kitchen: Spicy Orange Smoothie

As someone who loves spicy food and green smoothies, I thought ‘how can I bring my two culinary loves together?’ As it happens, the other day when I was prepping my morning smoothie I found some extra jalapenos in the fridge and decided to give it a try. It definitely spiced up my life and I loved it.

Sunrise Citrus Juice

Bursting with Vitamin C and beta-carotene, as well as Vitamins A & K and even copper, this juice delivers a heavy nutritional punch. With two grapefruits plus carrots, pears, and bell pepper (capsicum), it’s refreshing and bright, with a bit of “spice” from the bell pepper. This juice really grew on me and even my daughter loved it! I will definitely be making this one regularly. Try it out!

In the Reboot Kitchen: Green Avocado & Mango Smoothie

This smoothie is a great source of vitamins A, C, E, B vitamins, calcium, and iron. It’s a quick recipe that requires only a few ingredients, so it’s a great one to make if you’re on the go. The avocado is packed with heart healthy fat, and has anti-inflammatory properties. The spinach paired together with the almond milk is a good source of bone-healthy calcium, and the mango is rich in immune-boosting vitamin C.

Energizing Cacao Smoothie

Alex Jamieson joined Joe on The Joe Show to share one of her favorite energy boosting smoothies. She drinks it to keep up with her six-year old son but it’s a great boost of energy for every morning to get you through your day!

In the Reboot Kitchen: Green Ginger Ale

When I was growing up and didn’t feel well, Ginger Ale was always the go-to drink to help ease the nausea. Well there’s a reason for that! Ginger is a wonderful spice and it may help an upset stomach, gas, bloating, nausea, motion sickness & morning sickness. This Green Ginger Ale omits the added sugar that you find in the soda so you’ll be adding a plethora of nutrients and easing your body back into health when you aren’t feeling so well.

Meatless Monday: Saffron Sweet Potato & Rainbow Quinoa Soup

Spice up your dinner tonight with saffron. It is the most expensive spice in the world as each stigma needs to be hand-picked from every flower, it is used in cuisine for its light flavor and golden yellow color, and it has a long medicinal history as part of traditional healing. Studies indicate its benefit for cancer-suppression and prevention, immune-modulating, and antioxidant properties.

Loaded with beets, kale, oranges and carrots, this juice is packed with nutrients and folate (it contains approximately 240 mcg of folate per glass, which is more than half an adult's daily folate requirement) It's an excellent boost for me too since I am pregnant and my daughter Grace loved it! Citrus Kale Salad

Meatless Monday: Citrus Kale Salad

Posted on05/20/13

Written by Kelly - Nosh and Nourish

I came up with a DELICIOUS kale salad, perfect for this time of year: Citrus Kale Salad. This really was so refreshing and tasty! Besides the health-appeal of this salad, the other thing that makes it so special is that it keeps super well. The kale stays crisp and bouncy and the salad was just as good 3 days later as it was on its original debut.
